Thanks to local resident Jo Ann Lasater, our firehouse was recently named one of 10 finalists in the “firedog Across America” national essay contest sponsored by Circuit City’s firedog services! Jo Ann nominated our firefighters John McNamara, Jim Gallagher and Chris Freyler for coming to the aid of her late husband Larry, a Pittsburg, Calif., police officer who was shot in the line of duty in 2005. As a finalist, our Station 83 in Antioch will receive a $20,000 donation for much-needed equipment.

Now through May 13, log on to http://web.firedog.com/acrossamerica/vote.aspx to view all 10 firehouse finalist stories and vote for your favorite. We Are Finalist #9. The firehouse with the most votes will win a $100,000 grand prize! And, as icing on the cake, with each new vote online, Circuit City will add an additional dollar into a prize pool (up to $250,000) that the ten finalists will share.
