Ripped Again!
Well, I was reading my referrer reports because I have been having issues with referrer log spam. I was inspecting my logs because I plan to implement some of the tactics that I read at Ed Costello. I found this web site http://oraculo.blog.com/blog/jinigirl/2005/5/ in my logs and ALL of the content on the page was stolen from my site http://www.tinkertech.net. Even my screen captures are there and hotlinked from my site. One of my snow images was even used in the top corner of the page. Oh, how annoying!
Here is a little screen capture from my referrer report; it shows the URL of the thief.

Here are my original tutorials:
WAMP Server: http://www.tinkertech.net/tutor/wamp/index.html
Simple Dreamweaver: http://www.tinkertech.net/tutor/drmsimple/index.html
Photo Editing: http://www.tinkertech.net/tutor/photoresize/index.htm
Some would say I should be flattered, I’m not. I wrote those tutorials, took the time to make detailed screen captures, and paid to host the pages and images. The tutorials were written for the students in my web design class or to help people trying to learn about web page building. They weren’t written for other people to steal, take credit for the content, and steal bandwidth. People who snag content and images are just lazy and looking for a way to promote their own web sites.
So I enabled hotlinking protection on my site again and pointed to this image. I have also written to the author of the site giving 24 hours to remove my content before I report.
