Results of the Reboots

June 29th, 2005 | 1 Comment | Posted in Design and Layout, Web Development

A couple of months ago I had recommended that you visit the CSS Reboot site to look at the designs. The CSS Reboot site now contains thumbnail images of all of the new designs.

During the same timeframe, May 1st Reboot was also occurring. May 1st Reboot is a community project that brings together web professionals from all over and encourages them to collectively launch redesigns of their sites on May 1st. Flash designers are also involved in the May 1st Reboot, as opposed to the CSS Reboot which only involves CSS based designs. I encourage you to take a look at the May 1st Reboot designs, as well as, the CSS Reboot designs.

Jeffery Zeldman shares his thoughts and insights on the May 1st Reboot project in The rebooter’s children go rebootless.

Hmm. Mr Zeldman’s choices may be original and attractive. But most are Flash and, for me, illegible.

I am looking on a classroom computer set to my preferred 1280 x 1024 using Firefox – so I ought to be able to increase text size, but mostly cannot.

It will be worse on my laptop with a 15″ screen at a fixed 1440 x 1050 resolution.

    Just my 37 cents.
