Weekend Web

I needed to find a free file sharing service so that I could bring some files home with me from work. Unfortunately, my CD drive isn’t working on my piece-o-crap Averatec Tablet and I forgot my USB drive at home. I found some recommended resources at About.com and ended up signing up for a 30 day trial account FilesAnywhere.com. The trial account gives you 50mbs of space, which worked for me. They have pretty reasonable monthly plans for file sharing.

Firefox Help, Tips and Tricks is loaded with all kinds of goodies for Firefox. Great site! The FirefoxTutor is also filled with useful information. FirefoxTutor also has a partner site called GoogleTutor.

I’ve mentioned several color tools in the blog, but Mambofrog has a descriptive list of several of the popular color tools that you may find helpful when you’re developing color schemes for your web sits.

Some Internet Service Providers give you free web space – I use mine for exactly the purpose you describe. Since ISPs mostly don’t advertise this part of their service, it’s worth checking out your own ISP “terms and conditions” agreement. You may have a nice surprise.

I don’t know if the “Firefox Help” mentions this, but I belatedly came across this post from Eric Meyer:

We know that every browser applies its own styles to (X)HTML elements. This article points out where Firefox keeps its styles – as an explicit style sheet. Studying this style sheet is a great guide for learning about CSS, Eric suggests.

Thanks for the color tool resources. The more the merrier.
I still find Pixy’s Color Scheme Generator the most useful. It gives you tons of options, is very simple to use, and has code you can download to use on your desktop:

Thanks David. I like the web based file sharing because my piece-o-crap Averatec is also having trouble with FTP at the moment. While some ISPs may offer a web interface for uploading files, many do not. If you don’t know how to use FTP, your ISP web space will sit empty.

Thanks for the Eric Meyer link. I had that in my folder to post one of these days. :)
