The state is working to make things a bit easier for the unemployed. Twenty-five employment offices will open on Saturdays to help thousands of Californians file for unemployment benefits.
The state’s unemployment rate hit 10.5 percent last month, and more than a half million claims were filed in January alone.
To further help those without jobs, Governor Schwarzenegger signed a bill Friday that will extend unemployment benefits by twenty weeks.
This Friday we’ll get a look at the state of the U.S. job market when the Labor Department releases unemployment numbers for March.
