Prep for Site-in-an-Hour
Just a reminder, tomorrow we will working on the Site-in-an-Hour exercise. There are a few things you should do before class:
- Print and read the presentation. You should also read the associated links on the presentation. If you send the first page of the presentation to the printer, the entire presentation will print.
- Print and review the source code of the sample site.
- Print and review the css code of the sample site.
- Print and review the minmax.js script. Be sure to print the actual script.
- Print and review the form.js script.
- Print and review ie7-standard.js.
- Copy the folder J:\webclass\siteinanhour to the root of your user directory. In Windows Explorer, right-click the folder siteinanhour and select Copy; select your user directory, right-click and select paste. Do not drag and drop the folder. You will use the siteinanhour folder for your site. The necessary images and scripts are already in the folder.
I would recommend that you use Firefox to review and print these files.

Actually, you don’t need both the minmax.js and ie7-standard.js files. They both do the same thing in this instance. The reason the ie7 script is in there is due to the fact the min-max script mysteriously stopped working on that site. (on the night of the presentation, in front of a full room…Oh cr@p!)

We only used the script that you provided, but the min/max script site has a nice explanation of what the script actually does; I thought this might be helpful to some and a much better explanation than what I could provide. Oh my, don’t you hate when things like that happen during a presentation? My students can attest to that happening to me all the time.
