The Design Process

March 20th, 2005 | 1 Comment | Posted in CSS, Other, Books & Fun Stuff, Web Development

I was reading SimpleBits this morning and there was a link to Design Eye for the Idea Guy which outlines the process of redesigning a site for a client, Dirk Knemeyer. Excellent sample logos, color choices, typeface samples, wireframes, and photography ideas are shared on these pages. The pages should give you inspiration and a lot of planning assistance. Of course while I was there I had to check the designer pages which were filled with even more valuable information (my RSS feed list is getting much longer!)

Us.ef.ul is a beginner’s guide to del.icio.us. John does a much better job of explaining del.icio.us than I did in class last week. :?

StumbleUpon “is a network of people and pages. It is a free tool which helps you browse, review and share webpages while meeting new people.” So how does it work? You can install the StumbleUpon Firefox Browser Extension which installs a new toolbar in Firefox. Through the toolbar you can sign up for the service which activates all of the toolbar features. While you are signing up you will be asked to select the kind of sites you like to visit from a list of categories. Once the sign up is complete you can stumble all over the web with a click of a button. You can then rate and comment on sites. This is a great way to see sites that you may not otherwise “stumble upon”!
