New Firefox Extensions

Checky – “Easy to use interface to many free and commercial Online Validation and Analysis Services. Validate and analyse HTML, XHTML, CSS, RDF, RSS, XML, WAI, Section 508, P3P, Hyperlinks, Metadata and many more.”

Web Color Names – Is a color table extension that includes hex values, rgb values, and color names. You can sort the table by color or by name. After a color is selected the hex value or color name can be copied to the clipboard for later use with one click. Very handy.

Remember that once an extension has been it can usually be accessed from the Tools menu.

  1. David Hucklesby Says:

Andrea Binello, the author of “Web Color Names”, says of her Firefox extension: “It is a simple browser/selector for the 140 standard web color names.”

Your students should be aware that HTML/CSS2 defines only 17 color names as standard[1] – they should use RGB (red – green – blue) values for all the rest! (Use this extension to get those values. ;-) )

Note: “orange” has been added to the original 16 color names in CSS 2.1
