Dreamweaver FTP Tutorial Updated

March 6th, 2006 | 3 Comments | Posted in Adobe, FTP How-to

I have updated the Dreamweaver FTP tutorial to reflect the new hosting details. You can feel free to start using your new accounts immediately.

I also posted an abbreviated version of the Dreamweaver FTP tutorial. Students who have already read the full Dreamweaver tutorial should use this version.

Have you heard about or found a fix for a Dreamweaver FTP problem that occurs with Vista? I work locally & then upload to the server with my sites. With Dreamweaver 8 on Vista, my ftp login information is never saved when I close the program. Each time I open Dreamweaver, I have to go into Manage Sites and type in my login info. This is not an issue with Dreamweaver 8 and XP. Please let me know if you can help.

Try the 8.0.2 updater, it fixes the issue of lost login information with Dreamweaver 8, Internet Explorer 7, and Vista. There is a tech note about Dreamweaver 8 not saving login information when Internet Explorer 7 (IE7) is installed on the same workstation.

Here is the tech note: http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=3491671c

Here is the Dreamweaver 8.0.2 updater: http://www.adobe.com/support/dreamweaver/downloads_updaters.html#dw8

I’ve installed the updater and it fixed the login issue on my machine.

I hoped that the update would help me too, but i can’t even install the update. When I try to install this message appear:

    InstallShield Wizard Completed

The wizard was interrupted before Macromedia Dreamweaver 8.0.2 Updater could be completely installed.

Your system has not been modified. To complete installation at another time, please run setup again.

click Finish to exit the wizard

Do you know how to get it working? I use Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit.
